Childhood Immunization Clinic

As part of the Lake County Community Health Partnership, Health Department nurses will administer immunizations from 9 to 11 a.m. on a walk-in basis the fourth Saturday of every month. Please bring your child’s immunization records with you. The cost is $10 per dose; no one will be turned away due to inability to pay.

Hearing Screenings

Contact the audiology department to sign up for a free hearing screening at either the Lake Forest or Grayslake campus. Adults only.

Speech and Language Screening for Children

Schedule an appointment to screen your child’s (3 to 6 years old) speech and language development or have a telephone consultation with a speech/language pathologist for children under 3.

Dare to C.A.R.E.

Lake Forest Hospital has partnered with the national Dare to C.A.R.E. program to offer free vascular screenings. The Dare to C.A.R.E. (Carotid Artery, Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm, Renal Artery, and Extremity Artery) free screening program takes place over two evenings and is held at Lake Forest Hospital.
The Dare to C.A.R.E. screening includes:
-Brief health history
-Blood pressure check
-Finger-stick check for cholesterol and diabetes (optional)
-Ultrasound screening of carotids and aorta *
-Check of pulses in the lower extremities, and if needed blood pressures (Ankle
Brachial Indexes) are taken in both legs
-Review risk factors and screening results with vascular physician or nurse
practitioner and recommendations for further follow-up with participant’s
primary care provider.
Participants must register in advance for this free program. Space is limited to 90 participants per screening. No walk-ins accepted.
Screening Criteria:
Dare to C.A.R.E. screenings are open to adults over 60 or over 50 with risk factors such as hypertension, diabetes, smoking, abnormal cholesterol and/or family history of stroke or heart attack.

Wellness 180° Healthier Lifestyle and Cardiovascular Risk-reduction Program

Lake Forest Hospital and the Lake Forest Health & Fitness Center are offering the first wellness program of its kind on the North Shore. A wellness team consisting of an exercise specialist, nurse, clinical psychologist, dietitian, and your physician will help you lose weight, lower blood pressure, improve cholesterol and lose weight around your mid-section.

What’s Next for Me? Changing Times, Changing Bodies

Pre-adolescent girls (ages 9 to 12) learn about how their bodies will change as they grow older. This three-hour class, offered in the Hunter Family Center for Women’s Health, includes the physical, emotional and social aspects of puberty. Moms will get advice on guiding their daughters through adolescence and beyond. The $30 fee per mother/daughter team includes a nutritious breakfast.
